Want to get to know your fellow Ad 2 members? This month, our featured member is Kristina Bingham, Junior Art Director of MeringCarson.
How did you hear about Ad 2?
I first found out about the organization while at Miami Ad School in Miami, Fl! San Diego’s chapter was introduced to me through a dear friend Jimmy Stephens who was the chapter’s Treasurer at the time.
Which Ad 2 event has been most memorable to you and why?
I think I hear some bells ringing… Oh nooo that’s just me reminiscing about Mingle Bells! I flew out to San Diego from Miami, Fl to attend last years Mingle Bells after I heard what a great opportunity it would be to introduce me to the San Diego advertising community. And that it was! It was well worth the flight, hotel, and not being able to afford Christmas gifts that year! Ha, just kidding. But I did make valuable connections that I am still in contact with. So thank you Ad 2 and Ad Club for the amazing opportunity! Can’t wait for this years!
What project/job are your currently devoting your time to?
I currently work for MeringCarson as a Junior Art Director. We just finished Happiness is Calling, a branding campaign for San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau. My next project is with Disney’s Youth Education Series. Another important job I’m currently working on is planning my wedding!
What is the best advice you’ve gained from Ad 2?
“Make the work you do; work for you” and “Do your best not to be a stranger to anyone” – Jimmy Stephens. I’m new to the Ad 2 crew, so I’m sure years from now I’ll be able to write a book with everything I’ve learned from this amazing group.
Halloween is just around the corner, what are you going to be?
I have two ideas in mind. One is bringing back a costume from the past, the African American Cruella Deville. I had an Afro that I spray painted half white, put on a long faux fur coat and carried a long cigarette holder. So if you see a woman stomping around Gaslamp with a stuffed Dalmatian trailing behind her, you know what I’ve chosen! The other option is adding diversity to the skies of the 1960′s by becoming a Pan Am flight attendant! I’m kind of excited to build that costume from scratch! Although I have a feeling a whole crew of Pan Am ladies will be cruising the streets this year.
