Social Media Day San Diego 2012 was a huge success!
The event, held at the brand new Marina Kitchen in the San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina, attracted over 1200 social medialites making it the biggest Social Media Day event in the nation! San Diego Social Media fans, from beginners to world-renowned guru Mari Smith, enjoyed great networking and awesome giveaways from sponsors including Stone Brewery, PopChips, Car2Go, and SDSU.
Social Media Day San Diego, put on by Tyler Anderson of Casual Fridays Interactive and Rob Marlbrough of Fandom Marketing, celebrated Mashable’s International Social Media Day 2012 in true San Diego style- laid back and fun!
Over 30 local companies sponsored the event including NBC San Diego, Fox Sports San Diego, Rubios, Legoland, and more. SDSU and A7D teamed up to offer free swag bags to the first 100 attendees that included goodies like Legoland tickets and Rubios fish tacos (coupons, not fishy tacos stuffed in a bag) – they were all snapped up by 4:55pm, the event started at 5pm…
As the night progressed, Twitter fingers were getting tired from all the tweeting going on. Luckily, the Bellus Academy stepped up by offering hand massages to rejuvenate those exhausted Twitter fingers- extending Tweetability time by hours. Other attractions included a Fotobox to capture memories of the event, a Minglestream that displayed all #smdaysd tagged tweets on the restaurant’s many flat screen TV’s, and great food and drinks provided by Marina Kitchen.
125 lucky attendees were given wristbands to attend the after party at Altitude Sky Lounge. A perfect way to end a night of tweeting and drinking- more drinking, less coherent tweeting.
Social Media Day San Diego is set to become a great annual events for social media fans and industry experts alike. Hope to see you there next year!
