Where is your hometown?
I am from Auburn, California. Its a little town up north between Sacramento and Truckee. Auburn is notorious for its history in the Gold Rush. In Auburn you’d find statues of gold panners and naked people, the Foresthill Bridge (highest bridge in California), and an In-n-Out (one of our most sought after attractions). Auburn also borders the American River, with beautiful crazy cold water.
Why did you come to San Diego?
I came to San Diego for the beach, duh. But really, I came to this awesome city to go to school at San Diego State. My sister and I both chose the same school and left our parents to live far, far away in the southern-most part of the state. I absolutely love San Diego, though it is a definite change from up North.
What made you join Ad 2 San Diego?
I joined Ad 2 San Diego in pursuit of becoming more involved in the Advertising culture. I had only known what to expect in this industry from what my professors had explained and from pop culture (we’ve all seen Mad Men), but I wanted to get a real idea. Nicole Vargas, the internship coordinator at SDSU, informed me about Ad 2 San Diego, and told me it was crucial to building experience. I signed up immediately and attended my first meeting a week later. I loved the atmosphere and felt immediately welcomed. That night I took on duties from the Membership and Communications committees.
What has been your favorite part as an Ad 2 San Diego member?
I haven’t been a member for long, but I already love the club. The people are great, the objectives are great, the events are great. Mingle Bells was amazing as my first event with the club. The decorations were AWESOME and I met so many great people who offered words of wisdom and will be valuable to my growth as an “Ad girl.” Its refreshing to know that as a youngster in this pool of excellent talent, people are willing to help and offer expert guidance. I feel lucky to be surrounded by them!
The new year is creeping up fast, do you have a resolution in mind?
Yes! (Besides waking up earlier…) I just got accepted as a spring intern at Oster and Associates! I can’t wait to begin and learn from the Oster team while building my experience in advertising. My resolution: Give it all I’ve got! Im also excited to become more involved with Ad 2 San Diego. I am graduating in May, 2012 and am excited to see what life has in store for me!
