My tenure as Ad 2 President has officially come to an end. I was the first Ad 2 President to serve a two year term, and we got a lot done! Our membership doubled, we won numerous @aafnational Club Achievement awards, and we hosted a National Ad 2 retreat.
We had some good times as well! The picture above is my favorite. Its from our Kickball Tournament last month. What I’m most proud about though, is the jobs that were created and the business relationships that were formed.
There are numerous individuals and companies who have helped grow Ad 2 the past couple of years. For this article, I tapped into the Twitter API and their new @anywhere feature. I was fortunate to be in the audience at SXSW when Evan Williams announced the feature, and I immediately had the idea to use it for my final Presidents Message.
If you are new to Twitter, or to San Diego in general, this list will give you a heads up of “whose who”. Please hover over their names, and follow them, as they are San Diego’s brightest. continue

Get pumped for the 1st Annual Ad 2 SD Kickball Tournament! We’re kicking it off this June at Kate Sessions and the Tournament is guaranteed to be an exciting event with fun people. We encourage funky, fun team names and outfits!

Attorney Client Privilege Does Not Extend to Advertisers
A recent court opinion, in the 7th Circuit Court of Appeal in Illinois, has confirmed a lower court’s ruling regarding the attorney-client privilege as it pertains to Advertisers and Agencies. The court ruled that the attorney-client privilege does not apply to an Advertisers In-House Councils communication with its Advertising Agency. Generally speaking, the Attorney-Client privilege becomes moot when dealing with a third party, in this case the Agency. However, it was argued that the agency and their client, share a common legal interest which would carry with it the attorney-client privilege. This ruling will most likely change the way in which agencies and their client’s in house attorneys communicate.
