In 2007, the San Diego Art Institutes own Jeff Hunter won the Best in Show for his Playboy Ad in the Non-traditional advertising section. Whose going to be the next student to represent San Diego in prestigoius Student ADDYs competition?

What are the Student ADDYs?

The prestigious Student ADDYs is a National three-tiered American Advertising Federation (AAF) competition co-sponsored with National AD 2. The AAF created the ADDY's to recognize creative excellence. Work is submitted to local Ad Club Chapters across the nation and winners are forwarded to the district competition. District winners then move on to the national awards competition.

The Student ADDY Awards work in the same fashion and an ADDY award on your resume WILL NOT BE OVERLOOKED! This year’s San Diego Student ADDY events will be closely tied to the professional events and work entered will be exposed to numerous agency heads!

Student ADDYs Tiers:

  • Tier One: AD 2 San Diego Student ADDYs & San Diego AD Club Creative Competition.
  • Tier Two: AAF District 15 ADDY Competition (Southern California & Southern Nevada
  • Tier Three: National Ad 2 Student ADDYs & American Advertising Federation's Global ADDYs. Winner receives $1,000 Best of Show National Ad 2 Scholarship

To meet eligibility requirements, students must:

  • Be enrolled full or part-time in an accredited U.S. educational institution.
  • Work may be developed specifically for this competition or submitted from previous projects or competitions. Work developed for paying clients will not be accepted unless for fundraising or student publications.
  • Work must be created while entrant is a student not employed in the advertising industry. Student interns are eligible.

Important Dates:

  • February 8, 2008: Entry deadline
  • February 15, 2008: Late entry deadline
  • February 22, 2008: The Raid - get a sneak peak of all the work before the judges enter the competition. Pick your favorite "People's choice" in each category
  • February 23, 2008: Judging Day
  • April 4, 2008: San Diego ADDYs Creative Show

Entry Information:

Entry fee $25 for a single piece or a full campaign. Add $5 after February 8th.

Not an Ad 2 San Diego member? That’s okay, you’re still eligible to enter the Student ADDYs as long as you are enrolled full or part-time in an accredited educational institution. HOWEVER, it’s a good idea to start networking before graduation!

Joining Ad 2 San Diego is the best way to meet employers in the San Diego advertising, marketing and communications industry. Depending on your level of involvement, there are also several opportunities to network on a national level.
